Live Coding / Kata at BostonRB / Mentoring

If you have 40 minutes and aren’t familiar with building up a technical design based on simple, then more complex test cases, you may want to watch this talk from last night’s BostonRB.

Jim Weirich did a masterful job of presenting a live coding session. 

I picked up these TDD principals around 2001 (reading Kent Beck’s book), and haven’t looked back.

I perform this type of live coding / technical design for clients/colleagues, using the project-at-hand’s code base.

It’s an excellent technique for revealing/understanding a problem domain and building up a technical design.
